The third issue of NATWORK’s Newsletter is live! Within this volume the latest news are illustrated. More specifically, the newsletter contains the following sections:
NATWORK project is funded by Horizon Europe - 6G SNS, SERI and UKRI. It aims to develop a novel AI-leveraged self-adaptive security mechanism for 6G networks based on resilient biomimicry principles. The 15 partners that have direct engagement with NATWORK endeavours; they provide valuable input throughout the timeline of the project. In the following paragraphs, the latest Dissemination & Communication activities for NATWORK project are displayed.
The 4th Plenary meeting for Natwork Project was held on the 28th and 29th of May in Pisa, Italy. Francesco Paolucci and CNIT - Consorzio Nazionale Interuniversitario per le Telecomunicazioni were the hosts of the plenary meeting. Focusing on the status of the NATWORK project in several areas including Anti-Jamming technologies and IoT security as well as identifying the next steps of the project, the 4th plenary meeting delivered significant value to NATWORK. All 15 partners were present in the two-day event on the 28th and 29th of May 2025! We are looking forward to the upcoming events this summer, that are plenty!

All partners of NATWORK project advance the project and disseminate project results through all available forms, including events, conferences and exhibitions. The EuCNC & 6G Summit 2025 was held from June 3-6 in Poznan, Poland. NATWORK was at Booth 23 explaining what federated orchestration and Denial of Sustainability in edge-cloud-native 6G are centered on. In addition, NATWORK was present at Workshop 6 - 6G Trustworthiness: Requirements, Challenges, and Considerations and Workshop 18 - Technology Enablers for Sustainable 6G Design. In the images below several NATWORK colleagues including Mays Al-Naday from University of Essex, Ana Rosa Cavalli and Edgardo Montes de Oca from Montimage, Antonios Lalas, Virgilios Passas and Alexandros Papadopoulos from Centre for Research & Technology Hellas, JoaquĂn Escudero from Guardian, Vincent Lefebvre from Solidshield, GĂĽrkan GĂĽr from Zurich University of Applied Sciences, Merlijn Sebrechts from IMEC, Sándor Laki from Eötvös Loránd University, and Leonardo Padial from University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Western Switzerland can be displayed.

Dr. Gürkan Gür from ZHAW, participated in the Technology and Security Seminar on 6G that held last December at Geneva, Switzerland. The seminar examined the elements including cybersecurity, data protection and spectrum management within the 6G technology for wireless communications. Goal for this seminar was to introduce the ideas - safe, secure, resilient, global and interoperable – on which 6G will be set up, and initiate a dialogue between government, international organizations and academia.

The 2nd version of promotional material has been released this May. More specifically, the rollup banner and the related flyer have been enhanced to depict the current status of NATWORK project. The 4 use cases and the related sub-use cases for NATWORK are in the lead of the promotional material. These use cases demonstrate NATWORK’s ambition which is to develop a novel AI-leveraged self-adaptive security mechanism for 6G networks on resilient biomimicry principles. Within this newsletter the latest version of promotional material is illustrated:

When NATWORK partners work on papers related to NATWORK project, the project increases its visibility, and the credibility of related findings is more evident. Furthermore, the area on which NATWORK focuses on - AI-leveraged self-adaptive security mechanism for 6G networks - extends and additional contribution to these subjects occurs. In the previous six-month period, NATWORK participants have submitted 6 additional publications to academic journals and related conference proceedings. In total, the publications that have been submitted up to now are 24. These studies discuss the long-term outlook of NATWORK, including specific fields of the project.
There are specific press releases and white papers that advance the NATWORK’s endeavours to communities and groups of people that are close to what the project adheres to. These published papers enhance the awareness of NATWORK by detailing the associated activities of the project and providing additional uses for NATWORK’s findings. In the last six months two additional white papers have been published that are related to NATWORK project.
Sustainability of 6G is the main theme for this whitepaper provided by Mays Al-Naday from UESSEX. It determines the challenges for this area in relation to the 5G corresponding space. These challenges are compared against the consensual 6G vision of the European Industry and the expected evolution of services and the mobile ecosystem. One can find more information by checking out the original paper.
JoaquĂn Escudero from GRAD explicitly mentioned NATWORK project to the Innovative Approaches for 6G Security whitepaper. The paper focuses on the advanced research and innovative solutions in the area of 6G security. It emphasizes the importance of the privacy and resilience of the future network architectures. As 6G networks evolve, innovative projects including NATWORK address the fundamental challenges of security and adaptability of the new demands. More specifically, NATWORK’s contributions extend to creating real-time joint jamming detection and response systems and optimizing RIS configurations through AI. Additional information can be found in the actual paper.
